What training programs help me to attain my ICF credential most effectively in terms of program quality, time, and money spent?

To earn your ICF credential efficiently, you have two main options: the ICF Pathway route or an ICF-accredited Level 1 or Level 2 program.

The ICF Pathway route requires combining courses of at least 30 CCE units each, to meet all the ICF standards. This can be time-consuming, costly, and confusing. You’re responsible for ensuring all components meet ICF’s Core Competencies and CCE requirements. Application fees are significantly higher, reviews can take up to 18 weeks, and the risk of rejection is greater—often requiring additional training, time, and resubmission of your recordings. This can be a time-consuming, expensive, lonely and stressful experience.

By contrast, an ICF-accredited Level 1 or Level 2 program offers a comprehensive, streamlined solution. These programs bundle all necessary training, mentor coaching, and performance evaluations to meet all ICF requirements. They’re more time- and cost-efficient, with faster application reviews (2–4 weeks) and lower fees. The GCG certification program, for instance, has a 100% first-time pass rate.

If you want a faster and smarter path to becoming an ICF-certified coach, a Level 1 or 2 program is your best option.
